What do you do when everything is stereotypical in auditions, castings, and other ‘opportunities’ you notice for South Asian women in the creative playwriting, tv/film acting, and general space? You write your own play. It’s a top 10 Samuel French OOB Finalist. You raise 20k. You make it into a film. You get into 50 worldwide festivals, you win at an Oscar’s Qualifying Festival, you win the AT+T Young Filmmakers Award, and you wind up playing on Alaskan Airlines in flight entertainment. You cast yourself in it and play both parts, too.
